Children’s NHS Dentist
Alma Dental Practice provides free high-quality NHS dental care for children up to the age of 18 years and we currently have places available for registration.
A national dental health survey, carried out every 10 years and last published in May 2015, found almost half of eight-year-olds have signs of decay in their milk teeth. Tooth decay is becoming a big problem and an even bigger health concern.
With this in mind, Alma Dental Practice feels it is even more important to help children learn about their diet and the correct way of brushing their teeth for a healthy smile for life.
We aim to improve the oral health of young children by educating them and providing extra fluoride protection every 3 months (if necessary). Scientific studies have shown that fluoride varnish gives added protection to teeth against decay when used in addition to brushing teeth regularly with fluoride toothpaste.

Guide your child's hand so they can feel the correct movement.
Use a mirror to help your child see exactly where the brush is cleaning their teeth. Make tooth brushing as fun as possible, using an egg timer to time it for at least two minutes.
Don't let children run around with a toothbrush in their mouth as they may damage their mouths or choke if they fall over.
