Veneers are thin pieces of porcelain made in a dental laboratory and bonded with a special adhesive to the front of a tooth, rather like a false fingernail.
We use veneers to create a beautiful, natural looking smile. They can completely alter the size and shape of a tooth and be used to camouflage unsightly, broken or discoloured areas. This flexibility enables us to close gaps in between teeth and even straighten crooked teeth.
To make dental veneers a minimum of two visits are required for very simple cases, however, where a whole smile is being rejuvenated or several veneers are required, more appointments will be necessary.
In almost all veneer work some enamel must be permanently removed from the tooth. This can be as simple as roughening the tooth surface (where virtually nothing is changed), to slightly reshaping several teeth. Usually, no more than 1-1.5mm of tooth structure needs to be removed but we will fully discuss your individual case before starting.
